Ricardo Gonzalez

Ricardo Gonzalez immigrated to the United States from Guatemala City in 2006, driven by a desire to pursue greater educational and professional opportunities. Adjusting to a new culture, language, and professional environment presented early challenges, but through resilience and determination, he built a strong foundation for long-term success.

Ricardo began his career in education, earning his Elementary School Teacher credential from the Alejandro Córdova Institute. He later expanded his academic background by obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Science from Galileo University.

Over the years, Ricardo has gained diverse professional experience as a Community Health Worker, Community Support Specialist, Administrative Assistant, computer literacy instructor, and educator. Across these roles, he has demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and a deep commitment to serving his community.

Like many immigrants, Ricardo faced significant obstacles, including language barriers, credential recognition challenges, and career transitions. Through perseverance, he transformed these challenges into opportunities for growth and service.

Today, Ricardo contributes meaningfully to the Hispanic Health Council, where he serves as a Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW) and Community Support Specialist. In this role, he provides outreach, health education, and direct assistance to immigrant and Spanish-speaking communities, helping individuals and families access housing, food, healthcare, legal services, and other essential resources. He also supports community workshops and events focused on health awareness and resource navigation, helping families overcome language and cultural barriers.

Through collaboration with healthcare providers, schools, food pantries, and social service agencies, Ricardo helps strengthen partnerships that improve coordinated care and build trust within the community. His work plays a vital role in reducing disparities, promoting integration, and supporting the well-being and stability of families across Connecticut.

Ricardo’s journey reflects the power of resilience, dedication, and the meaningful impact of service to others.
