Andre Blaszczynski is Professor of Business and Economics at Tunxis Community College. A native of Krakow, Poland, Prof. Blaszczynski grew up and was educated in the US, earning an MS in Economics from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has also completed coursework in the Economics PhD program at the University of Connecticut and in Public Administration at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute.
His professional career spans forty-five years of teaching at the college level, academic leadership as Program Coordinator, Department Chair, and Dean of Learning, as well as several years of management consulting in Strategic Planning, Futures Research, and Operations Management. He spent a year in Poland (1990-91, following the fall of the communist government) on Rockefeller Brothers Fund and UN Development Program contracts, teaching, and consulting, and served as Program Director of the Polish American Business School in Krakow, Poland. He has written several articles, including "The Reliability of East Europe's Trade Figures", The Wall Street Journal, February 16, 1982, editorial page, delivered several conference lectures, contributed translations to several publications, including the Poland Helsinki Report, Poland Under Martial Law, A report on Human Rights by the Polish Helsinki Watch Committee, English Edition published by the U.S. Helsinki Watch Committee, 1983, and authored the Glossary of Economic Terms - Słownik Pojęć Ekonomicznych, published in 1995 by the Jagiellonian University School of Management, and Atlant Publisher, in Poland.
Courses taught by Prof. Blaszczynski included Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Managerial Economics, Money and Banking, Comparative Economic Systems, International Economics, Business Ethics, Marketing, Management, Strategic Management, Strategic Marketing, and Organizational Behavior.
Andre Blaszczynski’s experience includes over forty years in leadership of community volunteer organizations. He was President of Polish American Foundation of Connecticut, for nearly thirty years, served as Chairman (now member) of the Board, of the Connecticut Immigrant and Refugee Coalition, and member of the Board of Directors of the National Immigrant Heritage Center. He served as President of Solidarity International and President of the Connecticut Division of the Polish American Congress. He was initiator and co-founder of the Conference of Solidarity Support Organizations (CSSO), an international association of up to 50 Solidarity supporting organizations in 14 countries on 5 continents and served as Moderator of the CSSO from inception to its dissolution in 1990/92. He served on the National Polish American-Jewish American Council and participated in a White House meeting as part of President Clinton’s “One America” initiative. Blaszczynski was awarded Poland’s Cavalier’s Cross “Order of Merit” (Krzyż Kawalerski Orderu Zasługi) in 1999 for contributions in the campaign for Poland’s accession to NATO, and the Commander’s Cross “Order of Merit” (Krzyż Komandorski Orderu Zasługi) in 2009 for contributing to the restoration of Poland’s sovereignty.
